PUBLICITY GUIDE - MEDIA
Media
Another trick to employ is "setting your sights" on using the right
media.
Although free newspaper editors would argue differently, it is generally felt that paid-for newspapers are still read more intently by the general public than the so-called "freebies".
Equally, with daily papers, evening regional newspapers generally have a larger circulation than most morning regional newspapers.
So if you have an established daily evening newspaper on your doorstep, then that's the one to target.
Additionally, the traditional high-circulation nights for daily evening papers are Thursdays and Fridays. So time your release or photocall for, say, Wednesday afternoon to stand the best chance of appearing in these big editions.
Watch out for Bank Holiday editions too, when news is hard to come by and local press releases can often get more attention.
