Website Services2007 INTERNATIONAL WEBBY AWARDS
The CPR Works'-designed award-winning Virtual Quarry website has now rocked America!. This time the company won an International "Oscar" nomination at the Webby Awards of New York. The Webby Awards nominated The Virtual Quarry for the Best Trade Association Website of 2007. The website - www.virtualquarry.co.uk - was designed by Wolverhampton-based CPR Works for the Quarry Products Association, with PR partners Daybreak Communications. * Past winners of various categories have included the likes of Radio 1, Amazon, eBay, Yahoo!, iTunes, Google, BBC News, CNN, The New York Times, Wikipedia, Flickr and The Onion. Hailed by the New York Times as the "Oscars of the Internet", The Webby Awards is the leading international award recognising excellence on the Internet. They're judged by the International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences, whose members include rock star David Bowie, 'The Simpson's' creator Matt Groening, celebrity chef Jamie Oliver, Virgin Group founder Richard Branson and Internet inventor Vinton Cerf. "The Webby Awards recognise outstanding work that is setting the standards for the Internet," said David-Michel Davies, executive director of The Webby Awards. "And the Virtual Quarry is a testament to the skill, ingenuity, and vision of its creators." Said CPR Works MD Colin Carr, a former Birmingham Post business journalist: "It proves once and for all that websites can level the playing field. If you have a client with vision and a team of talented designers, practically anything can be achieved." The Virtual Quarry is no stranger to awards, last year it took the UK's Most Imaginative Design Award at the Communicators in Business Awards. Aimed at 8-10 year old schoochildren and their teachers, it was developed for the Quarry Products Association with the support of the Mineral Industry Sustainable Technology (MIST) programme. The site includes a virtual tour of a cartoon quarry, safety games and more than 20 complete teaching units developed against schemes of work, each written by a qualified teacher and tested by other teachers..
